A visually striking vintage M’rirt rug from the Middle Atlas Mountains, displaying several shades of reds and oranges, which merge seamlessly into each other and featuring a regular diamond pattern the whole length of the rug. Some of the diamond patterns are in contrasting wool. A dark border contains the rug on both sides. A beautiful and rare rug.
Unusually, this lovely M’rirt rug features a regular design on an irregular field. Harmonious shades of red and orange form the background to a regular diamond pattern. The ‘stamp’ of the weaver is the introduction of a few purple diamonds and a few blue motifs that state 'this is my individual unique design!' "
