An outstanding vintage rug made by the Zemmour tribes who inhabit the areas around the city of Khemisset to the west of the Middle Atlas Mountains. This rug was made by hand circa 1980. The patterning is very intricate, featuring lozenges, the ‘protective eye’ and other tribal motifs, all created in complementary colours typical of this region. The reverse of the rug is just as wonderful as the front (see last photo). A rare and striking rug.
A stunning rug with a rich colour palette. Love the design too - such a lot of work has obviously gone into this. So beautiful.
