Details
This is a fabulous vintage rug from the Azilal region, made circa 1980. A palette of pinks emerges as the predominant colour of the loosely woven random checkerboard design, interspersed with various shades of reds, blues, browns, greens and yellows. Loose strands of colourful cotton on each side of this rug add to the beauty of the piece. Occasional random elements of boucherouite (recycled textiles) have been added. This rug would add warmth and vitality to any room of your home.
A work of art! I particularly love the way the weaver has deliberately left strands of cotton loosely flowing out from the sides of this rug. It looks playful and full of life, just inviting you to engage with it in some way. One of my favourites!"

About Azilal rugs
The Azilal region stretches from the High Atlas Mountains all the way to the Middle Atlas. Rugs were originally woven solely for personal use in the home. Some Azilal rugs are made using natural white sheep’s wool with patterns in undyed black or brown wool. Others are very vibrant and colourful with freeform random shapes and design. They are usually of low to medium pile, spun using fine pure wool, and occasionally have added pieces of material woven in to create texture and effect. Azilal rugs will add a touch of creative flair to any room.
