Description
A rare antique Hanbel (kilim) flat-woven rug made by the Beni Mguild tribe – it is more than 100 years old! The tribal patterns are amazingly intricate. With a few neat repairs in its lifetime, this stunning rug is in very good condition for its age and the colours are still strong – indigo blue, reddish brown, hints of orange and natural undyed wool. This one is a rare find – being equally at home in a museum or collection as in a family home..
An outstanding Beni Mguild rug in great antique condition. It really is a masterpiece! Hard to imagine the amount of work that has gone into this one by a Berber woman and her simple loom. A quality piece that deserves a special home."
